The Internet Economy : generating innovation and growth

Durant deux jours j’ai assisté à la réunion de haut niveau organisé par l’OCDE : »The Internet economy : generating innovation and growth » qui s’est tenu à Paris au siège de l’OCDE.

L’objectif de la réunion était de « parvenir à un consensus sur les modalités les plus appropriées pour s’assurer de la croissance permanente et de l’innovation de l’économie Internet. »

Cette réunion s’est inscrite dans le prolongement de celle de Séoul sur l' »Avenir de l’économie Internet » qui avait eu lieu les 17 et 18 juin 2008.

Plusieurs thèmes ont été abordés au cours de ces deux jours :

  • les tendances mondiales d’Internet;
  • l’accès au haut débit ;
  • le rôle du haut débit dans l’innovation, la croissance économique et le développement social ;
  • équilibrer les objectifs de l’action publique pour renforcer la croissance ;
  • principes d’élaboration des politiques pour un Internet ouvert.

Les intervenants étaient tous de très haut niveau avec notamment Tim Berners-Lee ou Vint Cerf.

Je vous ferai dans les jours qui suivent quelques focus sur les thèmes développés, en attendant voici le communiqué final.

During two days I attended to the high level meeting held by OECD  « The Internet economy : generating innovation and growth » in Paris at the OECD headquarters.

The goal was to reach a consensus on adopting shared principles for an open Internet economy, growth and innovation.

This high-level meeting was built upon the OECD Ministerial on the Future of the Internet Economy held in Seoul, Korea in June 2008.

Many topics were discussed during this meeting :

  • Global trends for the Internet;
  • Broadband access;
  • Role of broadband in Innovation, economic growth and social development;
  • Balancing policy goals to strengthen growth;
  • Policy making principles for an open Internet.

Speakers and panellists were really experienced people such as Tim Berners-Lee or Vint Cerf.
